Your Band Council is working for you.

This page will feature video, transcripts (where available), and documents produced in regular Band Council meetings. Wherever possible, Band Council meetings will stick to a regular schedule, and be available for any Kwantlen band member to attend in person or online, and ask questions.

Below are the recordings of meetings for our current band council, as well as any publicly available documents introduced at council meetings.

February 21, 2023 Council Meeting

During this meeting council:

  • Reviewed the outcome of the February 14th, 2023 Consultation Vote.

February 2, 2023 Join Kwantlen-Kwikwetlem Council Meeting

Kwantlen’s Band Council met with the Kwikwetlem Chief and Council to discuss a partnership on hosting a First Salmon Ceremony together in New Westminster in May.

January 24, 2023 Council Meeting

During this meeting council:

  • Amended the referendum call and set new dates for a replacement Consultation Vote

  • Approved continuing progress on the Off Reserve Services Agency

January 12, 2023 Council Meeting

During this meeting council:

  • approved the new Referendum Regulations for the January 22nd vote

  • approval of debt registry for debts incurred by Band Council during the Governance Crisis

  • reported on the creation of the Off Reserve Services Society, and suspended development until a more detailed budget can be reviewed by council

  • took open questions and comments from Band Members

December 13, 2022 Council Meeting

During this meeting, the council produced a BCR to suspend Tumia Knott from Band Council, and to suspend Les Antone from Band Council. Council also approved a referendum to be held on January 22nd, 2023.

December 2, 2022 Council Meeting

This was an urgent meeting to confirm that Band Council will be retaining the law firm of Bailey, Wadden & Duffy LLP to represent the nation in any legal action against former-chief Marilyn Gabriel.
